Preventive Conservation
    • The goal of these workshops is to train the personnel working in repositories, scholars working in / desirous of working in the field of manuscripts, individual holders of manuscript and others desirous of working in the field of manuscripts, in proper handling, upkeep and preventing damage to manuscripts in all types of collections.
    • This programme is organized in collaboration with Manuscript Resource Centers, Manuscript Conservation Centers, Manuscript repositories, Institutions dealing with manuscripts, libraries and other institutions working in the field of manuscripts, the standards of identifying institutions have been laid down.
    • The Institute which intends to organize the Conservation Workshop has to furnish complete details for which a Questionnaire has been prescribed.
    • The duration of the workshop is five days.
    • Selection of resource persons needs to be based on their qualification, experience and expertise in the concerned field.
    • Number of candidates to be trained in one workshop is 25 to 30.

    The Mission places great importance on capacity building—training people in conservation and maintenance of manuscripts. Preventive conservation workshops provide practical training on maintenance and storage of manuscripts. Our training programmes include-
