Some regions of our country are abundant in manuscripts but lack the infrastructure and manpower to maintain them, such as Leh and the North-East. The Mission has set up special field laboratories in such places in collaboration with National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property (NRLC), Lucknow. At present, there exist two field laboratories:

The Mission in partnership with NRLC and the host institution provides financial support as well as the personnel and expertise for conservation of manuscripts in these areas.
