The National Mission for Manuscripts organises national level Seminars as part of its outreach programme. The papers presented in these seminars are published under the title,Saṁrakṣikā and Samikṣikā.
The first volume is called Saṁrakṣikā‘: Indigenous Methods and Manuscript Preservation, published in September 2006. It contains proceedings of the seminar ‘Oral Traditions and Indigenous Methods of Preservation and Conservation of Manuscripts' organised at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi in February 2005. This volume contains a total of 21 papers by Bhupen Goswami, Champa Alahakoon, C. Maheswaran, G. N. Devy, Heather Brown, Imtiaz Ahmed, J. B. Shah, M. Motebennur, Nawang Phunsto, P. Perumal, Ritu Jain, Shreenand L. Bapat, S. Subbaraman, Sudhendu Mandal, S. K. Das, Sanjay Kumar Maiti, Usha Suresh, Utpal Das, V. Jeyaraj and W. H. Siddiqui. The papers in this volume emphasize on indigenous techniques and methods of conservation, the need to revive these as they are more beneficial to manuscripts.
