Remedial Conservation workshop is designed to train manpower in Remedial/Curative technique/system application to damaged manuscripts. It is organized at institutions that are actively providing these services and have fully equipped laboratories and trainers. It is open to individuals who have previously been trained in preventive conservation through NMM workshops. Thus it can be said to be the advance level follow up of preventive conservation workshops. It is geared towards providing intensive training in remedial conservation.
The number of trainees is projected at 12 to 18. The minimum number of participants is fixed at 12.
The selection of trainees is done from amongst those who have been trained in preventive conservation through workshops. The sponsors who send their candidates to preventive conservation workshops are required to send the names of those candidates who have the potential of providing services to Manuscript Conservation Centres, repositories and individual holders also.
The duration of the workshop is 30 days.
Regular training is imparted to the staff of Manuscript Conservation Centres (MCC) to establish basic minimum standards for conservation in each partner centre and also to keep the personnel updated with the latest in this field.
